Good finds...I knew the soldiers had some hiding! but this looks eerily like Soulstrut.... : (
www.myspace.com/hulensNo Strut here...maintain your frowns homie.
No frowns here my man...I was just noticing the similarities....Those are some good finds out in the streets. If you got them at High Voltage, hope you didn't pay too much....
Good finds. Keep diggin everyone, Tacoma has some more gold out there!
www.myspace.com/hulensNah, been diggin' far to long to get shafted, since the days of the Roosevelt Convention. Thats funny that you mention High Voltage; like few I too stray away from him as much as possible. House of Records is the only true record store. High Voltage is for collectors and people that buy CDs. To me, record stores don't sell CDs, that is why they call them record stores. Other than House of Records, and a couple spots down Proctor...Just buggin' how everything except records are discussed.
I feel you my man. It's tough to find real record spots in the city. High Voltage when they first opened had some fresh stuff at good prices...now that the owner tried to figure us out, he started charging more and more. oh well.
If you want some dope records and someone to chill with, you need to hit up Zac Hendrix...he's the homey and definately has the joints for everyone.
Tacoma has the records, you just need to know how to get em!
www.myspace.com/hulensji@nt you go to golden oldies on 6th? they got hella old jazz 45s and some newer stuff ive got a few breaks out of that place
i usually just go north when i really got some $$$ for records
sonic booms all vinyl room in fremont is poppin and Zions gate is my other spot but i been findin so much digital shit lately i havent been up there in a while
Not since respect closed, don't do to musch diggin' in Seattle. If i go anywhere outs side of Tacoma, its Portland...or hit up a couple spots when I am traveling for work. Golden Oldies has gotten alot better since they moved from South Tacoma Way.
jiantone....hit me on the email, I'd love to hit you up about some stuff
hulenje@yahoo.com
thats cool u got rare records.
now chop em'!!!!
If you think thats rare.....those records are not rare, just not easy to find. Rare is based on the demand idiots are willing to pay for a gem. Some records are not meant to be chopped, some are just right for chopping. For me, music 1st, if you can use it...without removing the integrity..one up for you. But not too many so-called beatmakers(all beatmakers are not producers) are not fucking with dope beats, just fucking up dope records....anyway yesterdays finds...
okay point dexter...
make a beat. chop it. break it. scratch it. scratch live it.sniff it.
i dont care what you do with your vinyl. just dont make the crate crook find your house!!! haha
rare because everyone wants the same record....nah...they got people out there who just dig for shit you chop just to sue your ass when u blow up.

Shee-it...nobodies talkin' because they don't want to blow up the spots (thanks killswitch! just doggin'...but really). I can name six shops including a real gem in Seattle, but shall I speak? hell no! I'm a fiend man, I get apoplexy just thinking about it. I'm still spending too much sometimes though. Jiant I am really interested in hearing more about that roosevelt shit, you got flicks...I caught the wax poetics article on that, the likes of qtip and baby pa, man I wish I could have been there.
Also, I have recently befriended a kid from Portland that goes by J-biz...he makes some real good beats, thinkin' you might want to hear that shit...he has a radio show from 12-1am Saturday night www.kups.net or 90.1fm
I likes that Axelrod.

Speaking of Portland, did you make it out to the Night Owl Record Convention, they had some dope stuff down there. Especially if you got in before the doors opened.

JasonH5:Tacoma has the records, you just need to know how to get em!
i agree, i've found much more gold in the little shops there. seattle records are overpriced.
myspace.com/abadawnyep yep...for the hip hop cuts you usually got to travel outside of Tacoma, but even this dj I met at Platinum (very expensive shop) in seattle said he hit the tac for those older and sometimes hard to find cuts. Trying to link up with the night owl speak...didn't make it there but pdx in general does it right when it comes to black plastic... they even got this co-op thing were they put out a pamphlet with a map of all the shops and a little bio on each one. Plus++++ I don't know about all the spots but everyday is open til late, what's really good!!!
I'm about to cop one of those portable numarks and see what up with the border towns this winter. El Paso here I come.......
Yo Jiant...You know who sampled that Paul Horn recorded a the Taj Mahal...I want to say Mekalek or dilla, but dilla barely even exists, un traceable.
Black byrd's and street lady got me on my knees who knows what's up with other comparable titles. If you don't know what I'm sayn you shouldn't respond period wit the P

Ethiopian Knights and Kofi came out of those sessions. I always flip when I hear Ethiopian Knights. Not sure who lifted that Paul Horn joint.

No doubt, I still have a couple of those pamphlets.....Cross Roads is the spot though, you can come up with some dope records. It has like 40 venders, crazy new arrivals. Shit you can spend at least 4 hours sifting through a quarter of that shit. Plus its never crowded....For hip hop, hit up 360 records.
The funny thing with me right now, I've been really going back to what my tastes are, and I've been getting back to the jazz that comes from the mid-60s to early 70s....Donald Byrd - Up is one of my favorites...Fice gets to enjoy that now!
My Donald Byrd Station on Pandora kills it!!!

Back up in yo ass wit the resurrectionIts a blog, if anything serious was reached out of this...that's lame. Shit I was just having fun........a diss is only as strong as the folks that acknowledged it as such...…In all actuality it was a thread about records, not off shoot comments, but fuck it who really cares...it's a blog...and no true thought behind that song or comments.
