    Invincible - Shapeshifters

Go get it now!!! I've had it for months just slept on it... Talk about a mistake. She is fire! I say she would have no problem holding her own with the likes of MC Lyte and Jean Grae.

Yo, you can keep that spot and those discounts. He can't stand it when I come in there, after I got "BIG" records on the cheap, he even keeps tabs of stuff I flip on ebay......House of Records is the only true record store in Tacoma. Pete always hooks me up!!!! There all always hidden gems in there too.

  7.

    haha word

house of records is definitely dope for jazz/soul/blues/rock
    but for hiphop? the worst

speakin of horrible record shops that new owner of rocket records is runnin that place into THE GROUND
i went in there and the whole place is one big dollar bin with no new records no hiphop
and to top it all off when i actually did find some records he didnt have a needle for me to listen to it on

    HATED IT...

Yeah, true about Rocket Records.....you just have to catch it on a humble...last week I pulled David Axelrod-Songs of Experience, Bobby Hutcherson-Montara...he had 10 on them. He is into imports. As far as hiphop, House of records does have hip hop....here's a hint...it's mixed in with the Rock. Off hand I can tell you there are 2 Rakim lps sitting there and some random 12 inches, picked up a Pharcyde-4Better of 4Worse and Superb-90008 12", yesterday.

yeah i think i already bitched about the current state of rocket on here. i used to be able to go in there and find tons of underground type shit...mostly punk but on the real they had a great selection of everything but now...el garbagio. same goes for hi voltage but more because everything there (new) is about two-five bucks more than it "should" be, and i'm not one to schmooze for a good deal, i'd rather just buy online/not buy at all and spend money on (pabst, pots, poo paper, potato products). but the selection is pretty decent. house is always the best for anything classic really. 6th seems to be dying a little bit, from the past few years at least.

Every store has inventory slumps....if you truly dig you would know that this is when you hit it the hardest...or dig deeper...some just really don't know how to dig for records. There is always something to be found, just depends on what your into. As for hiphop(i hate that term and the things associated with it), anything remotely close to being good, is usually released on independent labels...sold on-line, so the likley hood of those releases being supplied here is in less than ZERO.

I also agree with what is being said about Rocket Records. I still can find some good things in there, but not as often. That is actually where I met Ji@nt while diggin'. It was dope, because it's not everyday you meet someone in Tacoma who digs. I have no problem with the owner of Hi Voltage, but I've heard one or two stories like yours Ji@nt. The first day that I ever went into Hi Voltage around the time when it first opened, I walk in, and the first person I see diggin' is Mr. Supreme. It is also hard to find new shit at the spot in Parkland, at least in the Soul/Funk. Ji@nt, I have to actually ask you about a certain record to see if you have it.

As far as whats on rotation in my headphones. Lately it has been that new Prodigy Product of The 80s.

Yo Jiant...that's a great point of view on the ups and downs of supply at stores...There's a reason we all dig in the same dusty spots lookin in the same bins we have for years....We went through Golden Oldies this weekend and I saw some of the same records that they've had for years there, even at their old joint. But there was always something to get there. Can't wait to hook up bro.
