My big homie hipped me to this dude a few months ago. I had slept on him my whole life. Never even heard of dude. He's from Baltimore. Anyone else up on this cat? He's fucking fresh.

I'd put Lab's lyrical skill against any MC, anywhere. He is one of the most diverse, intelligent, prolific, skilled artists in the whole game. He's been doing it since the mid 80s, when he was mostly slinging tapes, and has released so much material it's retarded. He's definitely a phoenix, and is now just beginning to get recognized, mostly because he was underground about 10 years before there was an underground. He was one of URBs top artists of the new millenium, and Chuck D calls him the Thelonius Monk of rap. He'll go from singing some jazz and ragga shit to blasting about Egyptian gods, the Five Percent Nation, and quantum physics. And then he'll rap about his dick for five minutes. Dude could possibly out-dirty Kool Keith, and busts lines like "Ladies throw your legs up so you can get your ribcage stuffed." If you've slept, start with Song of the Sovereign, which went out on Mush, and then Population Control: Wrath Of The Black Eniggma.
