so I had been thinkin about pretty much everything mentioned in the city slums thread... and I was thinkin... whats a way we could get the scene to come together and be more active. I thought it would be a sick idea to have a forum for all the heads out here. then I came here to see whats been goin on in the threads lately and I read through the city slums thread for the first time and its givin me a bit more incentive to do this cause it seems like thats what alotta people want.
this way people could talk and make connections, we could start organizing more art shows and other event and once the site gets established maybe we could start doing things like contests and give aways...
and instead of depending on a single person to make updates every month the community would basically be updating the site on there own. I know its alot of work to come up with monthly updates.
so... I already got some ideas for the site... but if anyone else has any ideas dont be afraid to throw em my way. figured this thread would be a good place to discuss and find out what our local community really wants in a graff forum.
right now me and a friend are just researching hosts and all the other basics... after that we'll start buildin the site and hopefully open it soon.
Sounds all gravy I have a MASSIVE collection photos to donate.
You both could be mods on http://nwgraffiti.com let me know, about to launch the forum part
I been done tryin to post flicks they is be not showin. Also +1 on the mod offer....you wont be disappionted.
Im definitely down for the mod offer.
and Ill let you know how things are goin with the forum. Im gonna get really workin on it pretty soon.
Thizzy & Germ you got it
so I did some research and found out the forums gonna cost me about 10 bucks a month and an extra 10 per year. so about 130 a year. so Im probably gonna put some google adsense ads up, so itd be really sick if everyone could support the forum by clicking on ad's.
Has anyone talked to Ejae? Im sure dude would be more than will to put a banner up for his website...after all he runs a sticker company.
thatd definitely be a big help. Im still talkin with my site developer friend. hopefully we'll get it up and running soon.
so the site is gonna be up and running sometime around christmas/very beginning of the year.
SO...... now is the time to start telling me what you want in a forum and what other features the site should have.
a section for street shit.
o and i gotta question about all this shit being on the internet.. the police and courts treat graffiti like some kind of heinous criminal activity, and ive heard of many cases where they either tracked writers down from information online, made a file from photos posted and identified online, and used all that shit in court to fuck people over. do we hold any rights whatsoever online? if so, wouldnt a warrant easily repeal them?
shit i may be paranoid, but i think its a worthy issue to raise considering yall are talking about putting up a public online forum as a venue to revamp a less-than-crackin scene. i bet just for writing this, stealthy rokn just got added to some kind of list they got goin, the jakes are like uh oh this cat is bringing up privacy issues!
the forum should be not be in message board style, period, the slums fucken failed and continue to fail on that one.
artprimo.com has a sick forum,a litte cluttered but sick, get some examples from them.
private threads a must. anything but fucken message board style.
a post-your-flix page should be on there for sure, mobile updates, all that new dope technology.
fuck police!
do a benefit hip hop show for the site. pay a couple years down the road with the proceeds.
doa death-alt-electro-disco-metal-hip-hop show. that would be even better.
